held in April each year at the Milan Trade Fair Centre in Rho, the Salone del Mobile is a world-renowned landmark for the home furnishing industry, a trade fair dedicated to the best in furnishing accessories of every type (accessories, objets d’art, ornaments, fabrics) and every style, from classic to Design to Modern. FUORI SALONE DESIGN WEEK

During the same week there is a “fringe” of FREE EVENTS in various locations, giving the city a total new look, re-interpreting Milan, the "design capital", and redesigning it for a week in a way that brings all its inhabitants to meet art and culture. A change of the urban landscape: events, performances and installations all over the city, highlighting the urban fabric and creating a very special atmosphere; this “electric charge” typical of a community of creative artists makes Milan a truly vibrant city:

Milano Film Festival

The Milan Film Festival - a showcase and competition for short films - is organized every year in September. It’s one of the best-attended movie events in Italy, well known throughout the country and internationally. Movies created in many different countries are entered for the competition, and the festival highlights emerging directors and gives them an opportunity to put their work directly before the public

Fashion week

For approximately one week, fashion designers, brands or "houses" can show their latest collections in runway shows while buyers and media get to inspect the latest trends. Even more importantly, these events let the industry know what's "in" and what's "out" for the coming season. Fashion shows, events, performances and installations all over the city turn on the lights in a non-stop parade

Stramilano

This, the most famous city race in Italy, has had a place in Milanese hearts for 43 years. The Stramilano is an athletics event which takes place in spring every year; it has three sections: the Stramilano International Half Marathon (a professional road running competition over 21.0975km), the Stramilano dei 50.000, a 10km non-competitive run/walk open to the general public, and the Stramilanina, a 5km event for younger people. Oh bej! Oh bej!

Oh bej! Oh bej! ("Oh so nice! Oh so nice!"; pronounced ”/o-bay o-bay/) is the most important and traditional open-air Christmas market in Milan. Generally it is held from 7 December (the day of the patron saint of Milan, Ambrose) until the following Sunday. The fair is also informally known as the "Fiera di Sant'Ambrogio" ("Saint Ambrose’s Fair") and has been held in various areas around the city: until 1886 it was located in Piazza Mercanti, near the Duomo; from 1886 to 2006, it was held by the Basilica di Sant'Ambrogio; in 2006, it was relocated to the area of the Sforza Castle. The most typical goods sold at Oh bej! Oh bej! are sweets and Christmas or winter delicacies, handcrafts, toys, antiques, souvenirs, bric-a-brac.  Stalls are open daily from 08:30 to 21:00

Mercatone del Naviglio Grande

This market is held on the last Sunday of every month from September to June, along one of the city’s two waterways, the Alzaia Naviglio Grande. It is an antiques market, selling furniture, objects for the home, old books, jewellery etc. There are 400 stalls, and some of the stall-holders have their own shops on the Naviglio Grande
