The Records Office

Who is eligible to registry

Students enrolled in an educational institution (public or private) who have sufficient economic resources to support themselves and any dependants, and who are covered by a health insurance policy valid for at least one year or for the entire duration of their course

What you need in order to register

EU nationals

  • passport or identity card valid for foreign travel, issued by the European home country
  • proof of enrolment in an academic course
  • income tax return and list of household members
  • European Health Insurance Card (EHIC) or document(s) proving the existence of an insurance policy that covers all medical expenses of all members of the family you want to register (e.g. photocopy of the policy, declaration by the insurer, etc)

NON-EU nationals

  • passport: original, plus one photocopy
  • Residence Permit, original, plus one photocopy

Non-EU nationals awaiting renewal of their Residence Permit

  • passport: original, plus one photocopy
  • receipt for the application to renew the residence permit (or Post Office receipt for the Application Pack) : original, plus one photocopy
  • photocopy of recently expired residence permit

Apply for residence by appointment at one of the following offices:

The application for registration can also be submitted by:

  • fax nr. 02.884.60164
  • e-mail to Servizi Al Cittadino
    with "APR" in the Subject line, for easier and faster sorting of applications
  • registered mail (lettera raccomandata) to:

Any change of address (within the same city, or to another city) must be declared to the relevant local Records Offices.

NB: remember to cancel your registration at the Records Office once you have decided to leave Italy at the end of your studies.

To cancel your registration on leaving the country, submit a declaration together with a photocopy of your passport, by:
